Though there is no official word yet, Prime Minister Man-mohan Singh had it was likely during his recent meeting with editors. Sharad Pawar, minister of agriculture and consumer affairs, food and public distribution has also gone public about wanting to shed one of his many portfolios.

There is also a vacancy in the external affairs ministry following the resignation of Shashi Tharoor. The fate of Telecom Minister A Raja also hangs in balance following allegations of corruption against him.

But given the tight schedules of Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the coming weeks, finding a suitable date to carry out the reshuffle may present a problem.

Singh leaves on a week-long tour of three nations on October 23. Right after, the Congress committee meet is scheduled for November 2, followed by Diwali and US president Barack Obama’s visit.
