Road caves in at KG Marg

With just seven days before the Commonwealth Games, one of the Capital's busiest road's — Kasturba Gandhi Marg — caved in on Sunday evening.

With just seven days before the Commonwealth Games, one of the Capital's busiest road's — Kasturba Gandhi Marg — caved in on Sunday evening.

Two more cave in were reported from East Delhi on Sunday, which caused massive traffic jams on the roads.

According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Satyendra Garg, "The cave in was at least 6 ft deep and 1 mt long. The cave in caused massive traffic jams on the road."

While Anand Tiwari, spokesperson, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) said: "The breach was small and we have barricaded the area. Since there is still movement of vehicles, we will carry out the repair work during night hours.”

"We got a call around 7.50 pm about the cave in at KG Marg. We immediately mobilised our men and informed NDMC. They encircled the area,” said traffic control room sources.
