Rs 145cr facelift for Jama Masjid

The Works Committee of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 145. 43 crore for the ambitious Jama Masjid redevelopment plan. The plan includes restoration and upgradation of Jama Masjid, Meena Bazar, Parda Bagh, Plaza and other small bazaars.

The Works Committee of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Wednesday sanctioned Rs 145. 43 crore for the ambitious Jama Masjid redevelopment plan. The plan includes restoration and upgradation of Jama Masjid, Meena Bazar, Parda Bagh, Plaza and other small bazaars.

Special lighting, signages and street furniture will be placed around Jama Masjid to give it a new look.

A path to connect the Masjid with Lal Quila will also be constructed.

Sadar Paharganj zone will have a new zonal building at Idgah Road at the cost of Rs 10.77 crore. Also, Rs 2.91crore have been sanctioned for the construction of Deendayal Uppadhay ayurvedic hospital at Geeta Colony.

MCD Works Committee has given approval to the construction of new school buildings at Tikri Kalan, Mundaka, Chandu Park, Ranikhera, Gopalpur Village, Lajwanti Garden, B3A Janakpuri, M-Block Raghubir Nagar, B2B Janakpuri, D1A Janakpuri No. 1&2 & Nursery, Posangipur, Rohini Sector-3, old Seemapuri, Chanchal Park Bakkarwala, Gandhi Rindhala and Tilak Nagar for a budget of Rs 62.60crore.

A new community hall with Rs 2.85crore at Tihar village, a sports club and senior citizens’ centre at Narela Poonth Khurd will be constructed for Rs 3.25 crore.

Construction and re-carpeting of several roads have also been sanctioned.

This includes improvement of New Rohak Road from Zakhira Flyover to Ring Road that has been sanctioned for Rs 14.29 crore, the construction of a box drain from Najafgarh firni to Nirmaldham at Chhawla Village at Rs 6.10crore, dense carpeting of roads at Krishna Nagar for Rs 1.08crore and so on.

The committee has sanctioned a total of Rs 300crore worth of projects.
