According to the police, the robbery took place around 8.30 pm at the residence of Dilshad Ali, an iron and steel dealer.

Ali, his wife Farhana and his mother Zarina Begam were chatting after dinner when the robbers barged in.

“I was playing with my infant when four armed masked men broke their way in and caught hold of my elder son. One of them placed a gun on my son’s temple, while another took my baby and kept her on my husband’s lap. They asked for the keys of the almirah. When I first refused, they threatened to kill my children. Four other men then entered the house and asked us not to make any noise. They opened two almirahs and took out gold worth Rs 5 lakh and Rs 15 lakh cash and went away,” said Farhana.

After the robbers fled, the family raised an alarm and informed the neighbours who called up the police. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. A search has been launched to track down the robbers.
