Sixty four year old OP Arora is a satisfied man even though he lost Rs 3 lakh to robbers in a daring day-light robbery at a busy market intersection at Nehru Nagar in Ghaziabad on Monday.

Arora and his brother Lalit Kumar, 45, managed to shoot at one of the three robbers even as they escaped with the cash.
The robbers, aged between 25-30 years, intercepted Arora and his brother, around 11am and pointed a gun at Arora. The duo was on their way to deposit Rs 3 lakh in cash at a nationalised bank at Nehru Nagar.
Arora — a retired bank official — pulled out his licensed pistol and had a scuffle with the robber while the other two engaged his brother who also had a licensed pistol.
There was an exchange of fire between both sides. The robbers fired four rounds at the brothers but they were unhurt.
As the trio was escaping with the cash-filled bag, the Arora-brothers fired six bullets at them and one of them sustained a bullet-injury, but managed to escape. “The robber was stunned as I took out the pistol. While I managed to save the pistol, the robber took away the bag. The trio then boarded their black-Pulsar and sped away,” said Arora.
“The locals have told us that the robber was injured during the exchange of fire and was bleeding. Both the brothers fought bravely with the robbers and will be rewarded. Robbers will be apprehended soon,” senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said and directed Sihani-Gate police station officers to lodge an FIR in the case. However, Arora was reluctant to lodge an FIR in the robbery case citing inhuman treatment by police officials five years back.
“Earlier, Rs 10 lakh were robbed from our residence at Avantika but the police officials, then, beat our family members and took a written note that no incident ever occurred,” Arora told reporters and the SSP.
