Friday's Tri Nagar crash brings to mind September’s Utsav Bhasin case.

On September 12, 19-year-old Bhasin, who was driving his BMW car, had allegedly hit two young men near the Moolchand Hospital and critically injured them. One of them, Anuj Chauhan, succumbed to his injuries later.

After hitting the two motorcyclists, Bhasin allegedly did not stop but dragged them on to a considerable distance. He abandoned the car and fled the scene, leaving the two men bleeding on the street.

Likewise, in Friday's incident, the occupants of the killer Scorpio abandoned their vehicle.

"Once the accused flees the scene, even if he is drunk, it becomes difficult to prove whether he had consumed alcohol at the time of the crash or not. The level of alcohol in the blood goes down if the arrest is delayed," said a senior police officer.

In Friday's incident, the accused were also injured. “An eyewitness told us that the man who was behind the wheel of the killer Scorpio was badly injured and was not able to walk. His friends had to lift him up to make their getaway. This point, however, needs to be corroborated," said the officer.
