SC notice to army chief over pensions

The Supreme Court issued notices to the defence secretary and chief of army staff on a lawsuit seeking launch of contempt of court proceedings against them for ignoring an apex court order for parity between the pensions of army personnel whose service ended before 1996 and those who retired after that.

A bench of Justices Altmas Kabir and Syriac Joseph issued the notice on the lawsuit filed by 18 retired army generals.
