"I had visited Kalehar Sharif (in Roorkie) on Wednesday where I was presented with a headgear. As per the tradition, I gave money...I am telling you I paid money. If this is also a violation of the model code of conduct, please get a notice issued in my name," SP general secretary Amar Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

He was reacting to the EC notice to his party chief Mulayam Singh.

"Let me make it clear that Mulayam Singh did not distribute money. People give money to youngsters on Holi and Diwali. Should we stop celebrating Holi and Diwali," he said.
