Shoppers rejoice as stalls offer discounts

The much-hyped fair could only garner around 11 lakh footfall, even though the organisers had expected a footfall of around 15 lakh during the two-week-long event.

"Our cap of one lakh on tickets prevented the number from touching the expected figure," said PC Sharma, general manager, ITPO.

Meanwhile, all stall owners offered huge discounts in the evening on Sunday. "We are clearing all our stock as we don't want to spend money on logistics again," said a foreign stall owner at hall no 18.

Sunday being the last day, tickets at metro stations were exhausted at 11am in the morning.

The number of entry and exit at Pragati Maidan metro station was 1.55 lakh till 7pm on Sunday evening.

Kerala won the award for best pavilion followed by Madhya Pradesh, at the award ceremony held at the fair on Sunday morning.

South Africa was declared as the best foreign pavilion.

During the fair, 6.89 lakh tickets were sold from metro stations and total metro ridership on Sunday stood at 12.69 lakh till 8pm.
