Six ‘winners’ fly to South Africa

Hindustan Times has given six young readers the chance to be official ‘Adidas FIFA Fair Play Flag Bearers’ at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Hindustan Times has given six young readers the chance to be official ‘Adidas FIFA Fair Play Flag Bearers’ at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The winners, selected through an on ground skill test and a test on speed and sportsmanship, are Abhiveer Arjun, 15, Vedaant Nag,14, Shubhro Bhattacharya, 14, Hitansh Sadana, 16, Gaurav Pai, 15 and Sarfaraz Singh Lega, 14. They were selected from New Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh.

They will carry the FIFA Fair Play flag on to field during the Portugal-North Korea game on June 21.

“We believe such opportunities — to see world class events and interact with international athletes — will encourage greater involvement in sports,” said Andreas Gellner, MD, Adidas India.
