A slight intensity earthquake hit Nicobar Islands region in the wee hours today, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The quake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded at 0259 hours IST and epicentered at a latitude of 9.7 degree north and longitude of 92.5 degree east, it said.

There were no immediate reports of any damage to life and property.
