Somnath likely to be discharged tomorrow

The condition of LS Speaker Somnath Chatterjee who was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi with pneumonia has improved considerably and he is likely to be discharged on Saturday.

The condition of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee who was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital in New Delhi with pneumonia has improved considerably and he is likely to be discharged on Saturday.

Sources in the Speaker's office said he has shown remarkable improvement and was likely to be discharged tomorrow.

Chatterjee, 79, was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and was diagnosed with Bronchopneumonia.

Bronchopneumonia is a type of pneumonia characterised by an inflammation of the lung generally associated with and following a bout of bronchitis.

President Pratibha Patil sent an aide with a bouquet of flowers to the Speaker to wish him early recovery.
