Sonia summons CMs on food law

Moving swiftly to devise a plan to roll out the national food security law, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has called a meeting of party chief ministers on July 13. HT reports.

Moving swiftly to devise a plan to roll out the national food security law, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has called a meeting of party chief ministers on July 13.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, state party chiefs and food minister KV Thomas will also attend the meeting.

President Pranab Mukherjee had signed the Ordinance on food security programme on Friday that will give the nation’s two-thirds of the population a right to 5 kg of foodgrains every month at highly subsidised rates of R1-3 per kg.
