After a communiqué by the North Delhi corporation asking it to file property tax returns and pay tax for the “portions of Civic Centre being occupied and used by the SDMC”, the latter on Thursday sent a letter raising questions over the ownership of the current headquarters of both the civic bodies.

According to a source in the SDMC, before the trifurcation of the MCD, a committee was formed to give recommendation.

“The committee had said since it falls under its jurisdiction, the administrative control of the civic centre will remain with the north body and it may claim maintenance charges from the SDMC,” the official said.
