"I did not say much (in the meeting) as the farmers have already taken to the streets," Yadav said after the meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Parliament House.

RLD MP and Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhury, who was also present in the meeting, said "we demanded the introduction of the lapsed Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, 2009 in Parliament at the earliest."

The meeting is being seen as a move by the two opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh to mount pressure on Mayawati's BSP government in the state.
