It again sparked a blame game between the Delhi Transport Corporation and Tata Motors, the manufacturers.
Corporation officials blamed it on lack of maintenance and untrained drivers. “Due to poor lubrication, the ‘brake shoes’ (on the wheels) and ‘bush’ (the part attached to the brake shoes) were worn out. We have asked Tata Motors to sort out the problem,” managing director Naresh Kumar said.
But Tata Motors said a battery cable short circuit had produced the sparks. “There was no damage to the engine or any other part,” a spokesperson said.
