The government has declared that it will upload the details of all private colleges on the internet for the benefit of students. Each college will be given a unique code to work as its identification symbol.

The first phase of the entire process is expected to be over by May-end. In case of schools, they are required to declare their details on the state government’s website www.schooleducationharyana.gov.in within two weeks. Those who fail to do so will face action.

The idea behind this informative database is to help students see the true picture of the private institute concerned. This will bring down the number of fraud cases as well as complaints about institutes losing affiliation during the middle of a session.

Last year, students of a law college in Gurgaon faced trouble after their college was derecognised by the Bar Council of India.

Once students get the unique code, they can simply enter the code and get updates of all the notices sent to the institute. This will prevent a popular excuse used by private institutes — they often claimed that they have not got a notice or a letter from the state government. Students welcome the move and they want it implemented soon.
