Student alleges mistake in tabulating BBE results in DU

Tushar Kanwar (name changed), a student, has accused the Delhi University of tabulating results randomly and without any guideline. “According to the rules that are posted on the department’s website, a student shall be required to obtain at least 40% marks in aggregate in both semesters. If a student fails to do this, he will be allowed to reappear only in two papers,” said Kanwar, in whose case this rule was not followed.

While the rule was followed in university’s south campus, the colleges in north campus seem to have done away with it.

“They told me that the second semester result was based on the formula that BSc teachers use. But BSc allows a student to reappear in four papers. We were just allowed to reappear in two,” he said. Kanwar has filed an RTI regarding the tabulation of results and the guideline followed, an answer to which is still awaited.

University authorities, meanwhile, said they were looking into the matter. “It seems we have made a mistake as two different guidelines were followed,” said an official. “I assure that if we have made a mistake, we will surely correct it,” said RC Sharma, dean, examinations.
