Education: He did a diploma in Criminal Law from the United Kingdom.

Political career: Chopra joined student politics in 1970-71, when he was studying in Delhi University. He has held various posts in the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, including its president. Won the assembly election for the first time in 1998, repeated his victory in 2003. He was the speaker of Delhi Assembly in 2003.

FAMILY: Wife Manju Chopra is a homemaker. They have three daughters. The eldest is a doctor, the second an artist. The youngest is all set to become a barrister. Chopra is an avid sportsperson. “I used to play football during my college days. Age has caught up with me now so I have restricted myself to watching my favourite sports — football and cricket,” he said.

Cars: Chopra has an Ambassador and a Skoda Octavio.
