A 25-year-old threatened to commit suicide by pouring kerosene on herself at Vijay Chowk on Monday afternoon. She even consumed the kerosene.

"She had already poured kerosene and had another bottle in her hand. She was about to light a match but we stopped her. By that time she had consumed kerosene," a senior police officer said.

She was rushed her to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where she is still recuperating.

"It appears to be a case of marital discord. Her mother-in-law was not letting her meet her husband," the officer added.
