Announcing changes in the tatkal scheme, effective within a week, Trivedi said restrictions on agents at booking counters will be increased from an hour to two hours (8am-10am).

There will be no refund on confirmed tickets (subject to exceptions such as cancellation). Identity proof will be needed to buy tickets.

Indicating fares might go up with the next diesel rate hike, Trivedi said, "The exercise at de-linking the fuel component from total fare has been completed."
