Team Anna demands introduction of jan lokpal bill

Team Anna Hazare today demanded withdrawal of lokpal bill from Lok Sabha lock, stock and barrel and introduction of the jan lokpal bill for its consideration so that the protest by the Gandhian can be ended.

Senior lawyer and Hazare associate Prashant Bhushan said the government can also hold a referendum on what people want if it has any doubt about the demands being made by team Anna.

"If government withdraws the present lokpal bill and bring a new bill, the protest will be over. If the government does not do it, then we will review and decide whether to extend the protest beyond 15 days," he said.

Asked whether inclusion of Prime Minister in the lokpal legislation would satisfy them, Bhushan said that would be a step forward but certainly not enough.

He said the present legislation should be called "promotion of corruption bill".
