All the clocks used in the explosives in the serial blasts in Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Delhi may have been purchased in bulk, investigations by the Delhi Police have revealed.

Even the clocks used in the explosives planted in Surat were of the same make. The police said the clocks might have been purchased on a particular day, and all of them together.

Analogue clocks of Prince make were used in all the serial explosions that rocked the city on Saturday. These clocks come cheap and are easily available. They are manufactured by Samay Quartz Clocks.

Police said they are in touch with their counterparts in other states to know the source of the clocks.

“The blasts had been planned meticulously. If we go by the clocks, it seems all of them had been purchased in bulk and the explosions are being carried out in a phased manner,” said a senior police officer.

On May 13, eight blasts took place in Jaipur. Seventeen blasts rocked Ahmedabad on July 26. Within the next few days, the police found more than 40 live bombs across the city, some even hanging from trees.

“We have approached several clock manufacturers in Delhi and have asked our counterparts in other states also to help us with the investigations,” said a senior police officer.

“None of the bombs planted in Surat exploded, this was possibly because all of them had the same technical fault. There was a problem in wiring that was uniform in all the bombs,” said a senior police officer.

Ahmedabad police in Delhi

Senior police officers of the Ahmedabad police arrived in Delhi on Monday. “Our Gujarat counterparts have handed us several photographs of the suspects wanted in the Ahmedabad blasts, we would be matching the details with that of the sketches prepared with the help of eyewitnesses in Delhi,” said the officer.

So far, the police have got more than 25 sketches and photographs across all the states.
