The way you look decides how people respond to you. This was the message management graduates at the Faculty of management Studies (FMS), Delhi University were trying to grasp on Thursday.

“The way a person looks matters in the selection of friends, helping individuals, hiring elected officials and clearing job interviews,” said Prof Gordon Patzer, world-renowned expert on physical attractiveness phenomenon.

Patzer, who is also author of looks: Why they matter more than you ever imagined, spoke extensively of the powerful, pervasive influence of physical attractiveness, during a conference on physical appearance.

“People often deny the power of physical attractiveness. Many young people deny it even exists. But the fact remains that you judge people and are judged by external appearances,” said Patzer.

"Within acceptable limits, there are little things that we can all do to increase our physical attractiveness. Wearing stylish glasses, taking care of dental hygiene and wearing clothes that fit well go a long way in raising your physical attractiveness,” he said.
