The police arrested Manoj (21), Sumit (19) and Kishan (21) — all resident of Camp Tigri — on Monday. They were arrested for the murder of Javed.

According to the police, Kishan had bought a mobile phone for R5,000 from the deceased about a month ago.

“It turned out to be defective, so the accused returned it to Javed and demanded his money back. But the deceased did not return the money,” said deputy commissioner of police (south) HGS Dhaliwal.

Kishan then planned with his friends Sumit and Manoj to kill Javed.
