A spokesperson of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said the incident took place at 2.30 am. “A tractor belonging to one of the cargo operators accidentally hit the hydrant pipe of a fuel bowser, which was fuelling a parked cargo aircraft. The incident caused damage to the pit as well as the intake coupler of the refueller causing the fuel to flow on to the tarmac,” said the spokesperson.
The bay was temporarily closed as repairs were undertaken by the oil marketing company and fuel supply to the stand was cut off as a safety precaution.
“The stand located in the cargo apron will resume operations as soon as a clearance is received from the oil marketing company. This incident did not lead to any injury,” he added.
