From Saturday, people will be able to travel cashless in Metro and feeder buses with the launch of the common mobility card.

After eight months of the official announcement for its launch, the ministry of urban development on Saturday will set afloat the plastic card called More-Delhi, in a bid to enable commuters travel cashless throughout the city.
The rechargeable pre-paid card would work on the same principle as the Delhi Metro card, said sources.
"To start with, the card will only give common mobility facility between Metro and feeder buses which provide last mile connectivity to the Metro stations. However, eventually, the card will be used on various modes of transportation like buses of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), taxis, and modes of public transport in other cities," said Sudhir Krishna, chairman, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and secretary of ministry of urban development.
"Talks are on with DTC and hopefully this service will integrate the DTC buses soon," Krishna added.
Last December, Urban Development minister Kamal Nath had unveiled the card in the urban mobility India conference-cum-exhibition in the national capital.
Speaking at the conference, Nath had said, "In future, the card will also be used to pay toll fees across major Indian cities."
This card has been introduced to promote public transport in the country, said sources.
The card will be a single point of transaction. The card will be attached with bank accounts and will enable travellers to top up their card from their personal accounts, sources said.
