A Trinamool delegation comprising Union Ministers Mukul Roy and Dinesh Trivedi and MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar raised the matter at a meeting with top EC officials in New Delhi.

"We urged the Commission that steps be taken to ensure that names of all genuine voters appear in the voters' list when it is finalised," Ghosh Dastidar said.

Maintaining that there were a large number of complaints that names of Trinamool supporters were missing from the draft list, she alleged that the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Front was trying to keep out its opponents from the voters' list.

The final list is likely to be issued in January and the assembly elections are expected to be held in May-June 2011.

The delegation also wanted measures to "ensure free, fair and peaceful" assembly elections, charging the ruling Left with creating "a reign of terror" in several parts of the state.
