After the accident, Satvir had been rushed to the nearby Gargi Hospital and was later referred to a hospital in Delhi where he succumbed to his injuries.
Soon after the accident, the deceased’s brothers and family members had reached Kavi Nagar police station and alleged that the police helped the truck driver flee.
“We were protesting against the police behaviour. Soon, the station officer arrived and he abused and thrashed us badly. We were held up for 30 minutes inside the police station. We were not even allowed to take our brother to a better hospital in Delhi. This delay cost him his life,” the victim’s brother Gaurav Salhout said.
However, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said he had not received any complaints so far. Also, Kavi Nagar station officer Avneesh Gautam told Hindustan Times that the agitated family members were blocking the traffic and had hurled stones at the truck. "They intended to set the truck on fire. We just prevented them from taking disobeying the law,” Gautam said.
The deceased’s family members have lodged an FIR against the erring truck driver who is absconding.
