Two days on, no trace of toddler, maid

Even two days after a domestic help disappeared with 18-month-old Ishaan from a Maharani Bagh bungalow, the police have not yet been able to come up with any clue, nor have the toddler’s parents received any ransom call.

“We have formed several teams and are collaborating with the crime branch to trace the child. Unfortunately, there has been no major headway in the operation yet,” said Amulya Patnaik, joint commissioner of police (southern range).

The Delhi Police have formed more than 15 teams to trace either the toddler or the nanny, Seema, 20, who had been recruited about 10 days ago as a “walk-in” employee.

The only information that Ishaan’s father, Vikram Singh, a businessman dealing in lighting accessories in Khan Market, has about Seema is that she is from Jharkhand.

The police have registered a case of kidnapping and declared a reward of R50,000 for any information about Ishaan.

Patnaik said, “We are attempting to trace the child at three levels — the district, the national capital region and beyond. Besides the 15 teams, specialised crime branch teams are looking for Ishaan at various places, including Jharkhand.”
