The two accused — Khushnood Ahmed and Mohammed Sahid, both 30 years old, were arrested from Modinagar area. A jeweller was also arrested for buying the stolen valuables from the accused, police said. However, kingpin Naushad Ahmed, who allegedly owns properties worth Rs 5 crore in Saharanpur district fled the spot, police said.

“The kingpin owns a huge property in Gangoh area of Saharanpur besides 500 cattle. He procured all these assets with the help of robberies and later invested them in properties,” senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said. Before targeting a house, the gang used to ensure that nearby houses are locked from outside to avoid any resistance, police said. HTC
