To decongest the two sections, the Delhi Metro has added two new trains on these lines, which, claim Delhi Metro officials, will help reduce over-crowding.

The addition of two new trains, said a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) official, has increased the number of trains catering to the twin lines from 41 to 43.

While one train was added on January 18, another was added on January 25.

Line 3 and Line 4 combined are the most crowded lines and cater to almost 4.2 lakh passengers everyday, which is 48 per cent of Metro’s total ridership.

The complaints of over-crowding and delays due to heavy crowds are regular on this section.

“With the introduction of two new trains, we will be able to make 78 additional trips between Yamuna Bank and Dwarka every day. While 39 of these trips will further go to Noida, another 39 will cater to Anand Vihar passengers,” a DMRC spokesperson said.

Senior DMRC officials said more than 90,000 passengers would be accommodated everyday on these 78 additional trips.

DMRC also plans to introduce six-coach trains on this line from May this year.
