They were writing the sixth semester for two students at Priyadarshini College in Greater Noida for R25,000 each.

“Professor Mehboob Khan found the two a little unfamiliar. He asked them to produce their identity cards. Caught unawares, they began arguing. The college administration called the police and they were arrested,” said a source.

Anurag Rao, a resident of Delhi’s Shahadra, is doing BTech from DU, while Shahnawas Aalam of Mau in UP studies management at IMS, Mumbai.

On investigation, it was found the two were impersonating for Vaibhav and Vishal.

Superintendent of police (rural area) RK Jolly said the two confessed to having taken R25,000 each to ensure success of the two original candidates.

“They have done so for other candidates at several institutions in Greater Noida in the past too,” said a police officer.
