UP man tries to immolate himself

A 26-year-old man from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh tried to immolate himself at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

A 26-year-old man from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh tried to immolate himself at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

Mukesh, who alleged that Uttar Pradesh police did not act on his complaint that his two-year-old daughter was raped, attempted immolation at the high security zone in New Delhi to gain the government’s attention.

Around 2 pm on Thursday, Mukesh came near Gate No. 1 of Parliament with a bottle of petrol in his hand and quietly set himself afire.
When a beat constable noticed him, he was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors said Mukesh had received 25% burn injuries and was out of danger.
