Vice president greets nation on Republic Day

People should remain firm in their commitment towards the founding principles of the Indian republic, justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, Vice President Hamid Ansari said while greeting the nation for Republic Day.
In his message to the nation, Ansari said: "Since the people of India resolved to constitute India into a republic, we have achieved many successes and have had our moments of glory."
"However, the country has not been able to fully realise the vision of its founding fathers. Millions of our fellow citizens suffer from poverty, hunger, disease and illiteracy," he said.
Ansari appealed to the people to remain firm in commitment towards the founding principles of our republic of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity and collectively face the challenges ahead.
"My best wishes to all our citizens for peace, progress and prosperity," he added.
