We will appeal in higher court against Lalu's conviction: RJD

The CBI court in Ranchi sentenced RJD chief Lalu Prasad to 5 years’ imprisonment in a 17-year-old fodder scam case, making him the second member of Parliament to be disqualified in the last three days. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 25 lakhs on him.

RJD spokesman Manoj Jha claimed that the party will appeal for Lalu's innocence like any other citizen of India in higher court.

"We've never been as united as we are now. Our support base remains solid," he said adding that our "Lalu Prasad remains our top leader, our morale will not be affected."

"There is no leadership trouble in the party," RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad said.

"Lalu Prasad will come out of jail in no time," he added.
