On October 2, Swati Mishra fired at Nitin Mishra, her brother, in his sleep, but the victim survived. The Delhi Police has arrested the girl and her uncle.
"We have arrested the woman, a BA student, and her uncle Anil Mishra, 38, for hatching a conspiracy to kill Nitin," a senior police officer said.
The incident took place at the residence of Swati and Nitin's aunt. The victim, a resident of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, had come with his sister, seeking matrimonial alliance for her.
The police suspected foul play as the entry of the assailant seemed friendly and nothing was stolen from the house. The police also suspected Swati, since she was not perturbed by the incident. When they interrogated the family members, Swati confessed her crime and told the police that she was in love with her uncle.
"Anil persuaded her to get rid of Nitin," the officer said. Anil is an arm licence holder and he purchased a country-made pistol and gave it to Swati a month back. "On Swati's statement, Anil was apprehended," the officer added.
