While the names of the members are likely to be announced in couple of days, sources said the government will nominate senior government officials, members of non-government organisations and women activists.

The group will look into measures taken to ensure women safety and give its suggestions. The decision was taken in a meeting on women safety called by the government on Tuesday.

Among the other decisions, the government has decided to explore the possibility of commercial activities in subways which otherwise remain deserted and are vulnerable for women.

The government has asked DTC to make arrangements to ensure that the area behind its bus stops is also lit properly.
