The Bhopal-based Campion School student is among the 290 candidates from across the country qualified for the national-level NTSE.

“It was extremely tough for me to balance preparations for both CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education board) and NTSE examinations. Among all the subjects asked in the examination, social science was the toughest,” said Varshney, who is now preparing for the national-level examination.

Total 97,000 Class 10 students had taken the November’s exam that was conducted by the State Education Centre in two phases. Multiple-choice questions were asked on mental ability, maths, English, Hindi, and history and the cut off mark was 131.

The national-level exam will be conducted on May 8 and the students, who will come in its merit list, would get education scholarship by the Union human resource development.
