Consulting jobs pour in at first phase of placements at IIT Madras

Indian Institute of Technology Madras completed its first phase of placements with 717 students being placed in core sector jobs. This placement season also recorded a rise in dual Degree and MTech placements with more companies in core, R&D and PSU sectors coming on campus.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras completed its first phase of placements with 717 students bagging core sector jobs. The highlights this time were a rise in dual degree and MTech placements with more companies in core, R&D and PSU sectors coming on campus.

Students received 740 offers from 240 companies in the first phase of placements at the institute.

“Most branches reached 60% placement in phase I itself. The education sector will pick up in phase II with several educational Institutions coming to the campus. A sharp rise was also seen in consulting jobs,” an IITM release said.

“We consistently received encouraging emails from all the companies with regard to their participation in the placement process and were hopeful despite of the Chennai rains delaying the same by few weeks,” says professor V Babu, advisor, training and placements, IIT Madras.
