It is supported by Software Technology Parks of India, an autonomous society under the department of electronics and information technology, ministry of communications and information technology.

Students, early-stage startups, aspiring entrepreneurs and corporates can submit their project proposals for evaluation. Ten early-stage entrepreneurs will be selected and EP will support them in pursuing research. As part of this initiative, EP will incubate 50 startups over a period of five years.

It will also provide seed funding options and opportunities to interact with venture capitalists to selected candidates. Currently in its second edition, EP received more than 200 entries last year and seven companies were selected. It facilitated a minimum of $10,000 (Rs 6.66 lakh approx) seed funding for each incubatee.

EP has received Rs 21 crore for five years from DeiTY. This will help focus on product development, which, in turn, will add value to domestic manufacturing of electronic items like smartphones, micro ATMs and set top boxes.

The initiative will be promoted by University of Delhi as academic partner, India Electronics and Semiconductor Association as implementation partner and CyberMedia India Limited as execution partner.
