Here are some tips and tricks for working professionals to prepare well and crack the upcoming IBPS clerk 2017 examUpdated: Oct 05, 2017 09:51 IST
A bank job in the government sector promises employees job security, social status, better retirement benefits and a lot of perks compared to a private job. Thus, the number of working professionals aspiring for the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) exams is significant. As the IBPS clerk exam notification is out, many candidates are likely to be wondering about their preparation plans. Since many of them are likely to be employed they will have less time for studies unlike others.
However, urging candidates to not lose heart, Abhishek Patil, the CEO and co-founder at Oliveboard, an online preparation portal for MBA, banking and government exams, says the entire game is of time management. The better you manage your time, the more you can focus on your exam preparation, he adds.
The IBPS Clerk prelims will be held on December 2 and 3 and 9 and 10, and the mains on Jaunuary 21.
Here are a few tips from Patil for working people to prepare for the exam.
1. Identify your study hours
As you are already working, you should first identify the hours that you can dedicate for exam preparation.
•Travelling – 2 hours
•Work – 9 hours
•Sleep – 8 hours
•Food and others – 2 hours
Keeping this in mind we can see that you have only three hours in a day remaining for study. This time is very important for you. You should define at least two out of three hours daily as your study hours and stick to it.
2. Prepare a schedule
As per your study hours, make a study plan of two hours daily and seven to eight hours on weekends.
remember, there are four sections in the IBPS clerk exam
•Reasoning and computer aptitude
Dedicate each day for two sections so that you are thorough with each section before the exam. On weekends, dedicate more hours for the section you are weak at. Also, try as many mock tests as you can on weekends.
3. Collect your study materials
As you are already working, online study material will be more useful for you. However, collect both online and offline study material for each section. Make notes of grammar rules, math formulas and awareness questions and carry them along. You can revise them whenever you get some free time during office hours or while commuting.
4. Utilise your time better
If you are travelling by bus, you can carry your preparation materials so that you can utilise the travel time by studying. Read an English newspaper and magazines during leisure time at work; this will help improve your English and GK. Follow pages and groups on Facebook dedicated for the exam so that you get access to various quizzes and articles they regularly post.
5. Practice mock tests
Dedicate your weekends to practising mock tests. The more you practice, the better you become at each topic. Try time-bound online mock tests and analyse your performance. You will be able to identify your weaker areas; focus more on those thereafter.
6. Take few days off before the exam
Before the exam, opt for a few days leave from office so that you can revise all the topics well. Also, do not get stressed and compromise on sleep before the exam. Stay healthy and focus and you will do good.
Stay focused, stick to your schedule and practice hard. This mantra will take you closer to your IBPS Clerk 2017 goal.
