I chose Hindu College to pursue my English (Hons). At first sight it seemed informal, but turned out to be a place of real learning.

I was a real maggu during the first year— I topped my class. After that, college life took over, and friends and masti became the most important thing. But, I was always involved in extra curricular activities — writing for the college magazines and directing plays.

In the dramatics society, I was always the sidekick. Our seniors kept the best roles for themselves and made us do all the slogging and backstage work. But one particular play that I directed and co-wrote became a huge hit.

I also earned extra cash through modeling and hosting TV shows. When I did my first television commercial and got Rs 5,000, I took the entire class to Bercos in Connaught Place.

During college, our favourite hangout spot was Jai Singh stall, right outside college, which served the best bun-anda. We also visited Stephen’s for mince cutlets and nimbu paani.

Like all seniors, I too ragged my juniors, but was ragged too! I was made to marry a tree after proposing to it. I was never considered eye candy by the guys in college. They only had eyes for girls from Miranda and LSR college. I was always one of the guys. Let’s hope they regret it now. The rascals!

Tisca Chopra is known for her strong portrayals in the movies Taare Zameen Par and Firaaq.
