Doordarshan has signed an MoU with Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) reviving transmission of Gyan Darshan for educational broadcasts. The MoU was signed by Deepa Chandra, deputy director (general), Doordarshan , and Sudhir Budhakoti, registrar(administration), Ignou.

The signing ceremony was presided by Supriya Sahu, director general, Doordarshan and Prof Ravindra Kumar, vice-chancellor (incharge), Ignou.
Prof Kumar said the university’s educational programmes aired through Doordarshan and other channels are meant for improving knowledge for all sections of society and are not limited to Ignou students. Gyan Darshan is likely to be on air by January 1, 2017 for which all preparations are on in full swing, said Ravi Kanth, director, electronic media centre, Ignou. The university’s popular teleconferencing programme helped students, in remote districts, to get tutorials from experts at Ignou.
