Pay tributes to Sant Ravidas, no holiday on jayanti, UP schools told
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed educational institutions to organise workshops, posters, essay and singing competitions to pay tributes to Sant Ravidas
Lucknow Government and aided schools across Uttar Pradesh will remain open on January 31 – the birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas and organise programmes to mark the occasion.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed educational institutions to organise workshops, posters, essay and singing competitions to pay tributes to Sant Ravidas. Educational institutions have also been asked to hold symposiums, debates and discussions on the life of the saint.
Additional chief secretary (secondary and higher education) has issued a government order (GO) to this effect. Following the GO, the secondary education director issued orders to all district inspectors of schools (DIOS) to do the needful and hold such programmes.
In a similar directive issued by the secretary of the UP Basic Education Council, Allahabad, teachers have been asked to open the schools run by the council on January 31 and educate children about the life of the saint.
According to the chief minister, Sant Ravidas was one of those great saints who contributed in a big way to removal of the ills of the society. Sant Ravidas opposed caste and class discrimination, superstitions and other evils of society, Adityanath said.
