The police on Monday arrested a 27-year-old Bhiwandi resident in connection with the SSC exam paper leak. Ansari Mohammad Navid works as a tutor at Bhiwandi’s Career Coaching Center, which is owned by the first arrested accused, Wazhir Shiekh, in the case.
With Navid’s arrest, the total number of arrests have gone up to four, which includes the vice-principal of a school.
During interrogation, Sheikh claimed that Navid was his accomplice, after which the police arrested him.
“Navid was aware that the question paper was being shared with the students. We shall now interrogate him to find out his role in the paper leak incident. He is in police custody till March 29,” said a police officer.
Police had started probe after Bhiwandi-based Samvad Foundation’s Govind Sharma reported a first possible leak at a school in the area to the education board. However, hours after an FIR was registered, the same day’s History and Political Science question papers were also circulated.
Sharma has now written to the board to take action against parents involved in the leak. However, Ankit Goyal, DCP, Bhiwandi, zone 2, said, “We are only focusing on nabbing those who leaked the papers first. The students and parents will be probed after the basic investigation.”
So far six students have also been questioned by the police in this case.
