Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway's lone appearance at this year's Met Gala has fuelled speculation that her marriage to actor Adam Shulman is on the rocks.

Does one appearance by an actress at an event -- that turned into a couple fest -- make for trouble-in-marriage rumours?

Evidently yes. Les Miserables star Anne Hathaway turned up without her husband of one year, Adam Shulman, at the Met Gala and lo, we were inundated with stories on trouble in her marriage.

The

31-year-old actress

left the hotel alone for the event in the back of her chauffeur driven SUV, reported Showbiz spy.

The couple became engaged in November 2011 and were married on September 29, 2012.

The sources failed to take in account the fact that the couple had been sighted "very much together" till recently and actually were quite "lovey-dovey" with each other at this year's Oscars.
