Looks like Bollywood actors are speaking their mind these days. While veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah was recently in news for his harsh criticism of Farhan Akhtar’s film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, now, actor Anupam Kher seems to have rubbed actor Irrfan the wrong way.

The two were at the curtain raiser of an upcoming film awards in Mumbai which had nominated both for their respective films, Special Chabbis and The Lunchbox.

While Kher chose to talk only about his own performance, Irrfan felt it was inappropriate to praise only oneself. This eventually led to a war of words.

“When host Karanvir Bohra asked Anupam his views on the nominations, he said that he would only like to talk about himself. ‘I would like to talk about Special 26,’ he said. To this, Irrfan got miffed and said curtly, ‘Cinema is all also about praising others. I wish we all can do that’,” says a source from the event, adding, “Anupam retorted saying, ‘Applauding yourself is important. I am known to be politically incorrect. I have been in the industry for 30 years, and it is important to appreciate your own work.’”

Later, however, the two, who shared screen space in Apna Asmaan (2007), appeared to have warmed up. “My sense of humour should not be misconstrued as a judgment on other people’s work,” Kher was quoted saying.
