Some of these stars will go all out to celebrate the festival of colours and brightness, while some of them will stay at home or perhaps celebrate a working Holi! Here's finding out what B-Town's celebs are upto this festive season.
Actor Amitabh Bachchan seems to be in favour of a dry Holi this year. The star of many hit holi numbers like Rang barse and Holi ke din sab mil jaate hai, has asked his fans to save water on Holi as Maharastra is facing a great deal of water shortage. The 70-year-old actor took to his Twitter to request his millions of followers to play dry Holi as the state is experiencing one of its worst droughts in the last 40 years.
In fact, Hrithik Roshan too, has has refused to celebrate the festival this year. “He won’t be celebrating Holi as a mark of solidarity with those who are suffering from the acute water shortage in Maharashtra. Instead, he will only use only a small amount of gulaal to apply a shagun tika as part of the traditional ritual,” says an insider close to him. In fact, like Hrithik, even the other members of the Roshan family will reportedly keep the celebrations low-key. They will take part in the morning puja and then spend some some quiet time together.
Unfortunately, actress Sonam Kapoor, too, won't be playing Holi this year. She tweeted, "Happy holi my darlings!! Love laughter and lots of colour.. Can't play holi unfortunately as I've been under the weather for the past three days! (sic)"Shabana Azmi said, "At my parental home in Janki Kutir, playing Holi is a tradition started by my father (Kaifi Azmi) and now followed by my brother Baba. We play with organic dry colours. There will be family and friends from theatre and cinema. Lots of naach-gaana and khaana."
Irrfan Khan said, "This Holi I am far away from the madding crowd in the forests of Uttarakhand.
Honey Singh has a working Holi as he says, "This Holi I perform in Dubai for a crowd of 20,000 people. For the concert of mine, the gates are being flung open for families and children as well. Through this festival of colours and happiness, I want my fans to know my music is for everyone and for all occasions."
Kalki Koechlin too, said she'll be working this Holi: I am shooting for a film in Delhi for Holi.Raunchy starlet Poonam Pandey, who has been promoting an ad campaign tweeted on her account saying she'll be celebrating the festival with 'chaddi buddyz'. The actress has even shot an exclusive video for the campaign, which is about gifting colourful undergarments to your best buddies on Holi.
Pavitra Rishta and Kai Po Che! actor Sushant Singh says, "I will not waste water and only use natural colours. Maybe a lathmaar Holi, which is very famous in north India (laughs) would be a great idea."
Busy Varun Dhawan, who's busy shooting these days says, "After packing up, I’ll play a bit with my crewmembers, including Anurag Basu (director), Ayananka Bose (cinematographer) and Kunal Rawal (designer)."Student Of The Year actor Sidharth Malhotra plans to celebrate Holi with his friends. He says: I am preparing for my film (that’s why I am not going to my hometown, Delhi) but still, I’ll celebrate Holi in my own way with my close friends.
Television actor Nakuul Mehta no longer plays with colours either. He says, "Every year, I end up working. Besides, these days, it has become a nuisance. People go overboard wasting water; even the folks in my apartment call for a water tanker to have a rain dance. Kids throwing water balloons on passers-by is also not in the correct spirit."
Other stars like Aditi Rao Hydari, Shiamak Davar and Malaika Arora Khan will all be celebrating a working Holi.
