Kangana Ranaut cheers for Akshay Kumar's 'blockbuster' BellBottom, wishes the team for theatrical release

Kangana Ranaut has praised Akshay Kumar's BellBottom over its theatrical release. The actor is also waiting for her film Thalaivi to release in theatres.

Kangana Ranaut has congratulated the team of BellBottom for its theatrical release. The actor took to her Instagram Stories and shared the poster of the movie, featuring Akshay Kumar, and called the team 'a winner'.

"Watch blockbuster #BellBottom in theatres today. Wishing the entire team for taking the first step you are already a winner, congratulations," Kangana Ranaut wrote.

BellBottom has become the first big Bollywood movie to have been released in theatres since the second wave of Covid-19. The film opened at a time when only 50% screens in India have reopened, with reduced capacity.

Speaking with Variety, Akshay said that someone had to take the first step. "Vashu Bhagnani is a bold and brave man and I respect that he is the first to take the leap, despite the fact certain major territories like Maharashtra which constitute for 30% of the business remain closed. Someone had to step forward first, for the sake of the industry, and this has happened with Bellbottom,” he said.

The actor, in an Instagram post, also confessed he was feeling the nerves of the first day. "That nervousness of one day before the release is back and swear to God I’ve missed it," he said, promoting his film. BellBottom also stars Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor, and Huma Qureshi.

Bollywood took a massive hit, like every other industry in the country, due to Covid-19 pandemic. Several big budget films were delayed and there was no box office collections to support the industry for months.

When the theatres opened, earlier this years, films such as Roohi and Mumbai Saga were the first few to release in cinemas. However, the second wave brought the business to a standstill yet again.

Kangana has been awaiting the release of her film Thalaivi. The film was slated to released in April this year. However, it was delayed indefinitely due to the second Covid-19 wave.
